DESCRIPTION:Speak your way to success…unlock scholarships with your voice! \nSince its start in 1928\, the Optimist Oratorical Contest has become the longest-running program sponsored by Optimist International. DESCRIPTION:Initiated by a long-time educator\, the late John Weaver\, the Optimist Club recognizes elementary and middle-school students for their good character– kindness\, compassion\, empathy\, support\, honesty\, friendship\, humanity and respect.  The focus is on students who fly “under the radar\,” who may not be the highest academic\, musical\, artistic or athletic achiever\, but who makes our school community a better place to work\, learn\, play and succeed. \nNominations\, including a description of the reasons for nominating the student\, can be mailed to the Menomonee Falls Optimist Club\, PO Box 671\, Menomonee Falls\, WI 53052 or emailed to Rick Kohl at rick.kohlsja@gmail.com.  The 2025 award ceremony will take place on April 2 during the regularly-scheduled Optimist Club meeting at 7:15 am at the Falls Community Recreation Center on Margaret Road.

SUMMARY:2025 Kids Fishing Derby
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls Kids Fishing Derby will take place the morning of Saturday\, May 10th at the Mill Pond in downtown Menomonee Falls.  The contest is free and is open to all boys and girls ages 3-16 who reside or attend school in the Menomonee Falls area.  All participants will receive a t-shirt and door prize. Trophies will be awarded to boys and girls in five age divisions for the longest fish and most fish caught during the contest. \nRegistration for the event will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Mill Pond Shelter.  During registration\, each child will receive a t-shirt\, fish recording log\, and a ticket for a door prize.  The fishing contest will be from 10:00 AM to Noon.  At Noon\, participants will want to hand-in their fish recording log to one of many volunteers that will be on site.  Trophies will be awarded to contest winners shortly after Noon.  Door prizes can be claimed at the registration table anytime between 10:00 AM and Noon. \nThe Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch will be selling food at the pavilion at the Mill Pond & Shelter from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. \nPlease bring your own fishing equipment.  Only a limited supply of bait will be provided.  Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult.  Those 16 years old and older must have a fishing license. \nOver the years\, sponsors and supporters of this event include the Menomonee Falls Police Department\, the Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch\, the Village of Menomonee Falls\, RB Enterprises\, Fleet Farm\, Krueger’s Entertainment Center\, Cops and Kids Foundation\, Sandy Spring Farm\, Kwik Trip\, Tru Turn\, Menomonee Falls CE & Rec\, The Falls Neighbors and the Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls. \n

DESCRIPTION:Got Leaves? \nIf you are a senior homeowner and would like your yard raked\, sign up by calling the CE & Rec Office at (262) 255-8460 by October 31st.  They will get you on the list to be contacted by a volunteer youth group to schedule raking to occur from November 8th through November 23rd. \nHow Does It Work? \nIn early November\, various youth groups will be assigned to handle the raking.  They will contact the residents to arrange a convenient date and time to rake.  While the service is free\, donations are encouraged; every donated dollar is matched by the Optimist Club and shared among the participating groups. \nNote that we are at the mercy of Wisconsin weather.  Groups are encouraged to complete the raking as soon as possible to minimize the effects of inclement weather.

DESCRIPTION:Initiated by a long-time educator\, the late John Weaver\, the Optimist Club recognizes elementary and middle-school students for their good character– kindness\, compassion\, empathy\, support\, honesty\, friendship\, humanity and respect.  The focus is on students who fly “under the radar\,” who may not be the highest academic\, musical\, artistic or athletic achiever\, but who makes our school community a better place to work\, learn\, play and succeed. \nNominations\, including a description of the reasons for nominating the student\, can be mailed to the Menomonee Falls Optimist Club\, PO Box 671\, Menomonee Falls\, WI 53052 or emailed to Jim Weitzer at trimancc@gmail.com. \nThe 2026 award ceremony will take place on March 25 during the regularly-scheduled Optimist Club meeting at 7:15 am at the Falls Community Recreation Center on Margaret Road. \n  \n

SUMMARY:2026 Kids Fishing Derby
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls Kids Fishing Derby will take place the morning of Saturday\, May 9th at the Mill Pond in downtown Menomonee Falls.  The contest is free and is open to all boys and girls ages 3-16 who reside or attend school in the Menomonee Falls area.  All participants will receive a t-shirt and door prize. Trophies will be awarded to boys and girls in five age divisions for the longest fish and most fish caught during the contest. \nRegistration for the event will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Mill Pond Shelter.  During registration\, each child will receive a t-shirt\, fish recording log\, and a ticket for a door prize.  The fishing contest will be from 10:00 AM to Noon.  At Noon\, participants will want to hand-in their fish recording log to one of many volunteers that will be on site.  Trophies will be awarded to contest winners shortly after Noon.  Door prizes can be claimed at the registration table anytime between 10:00 AM and Noon. \nThe Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch will be selling food at the pavilion at the Mill Pond & Shelter from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. \nPlease bring your own fishing equipment.  Only a limited supply of bait will be provided.  Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult.  Those 16 years old and older must have a fishing license. \nOver the years\, sponsors and supporters of this event include the Menomonee Falls Police Department\, the Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch\, the Village of Menomonee Falls\, RB Enterprises\, Fleet Farm\, Krueger’s Entertainment Center\, Cops and Kids Foundation\, Sandy Spring Farm\, Kwik Trip\, Tru Turn\, Menomonee Falls CE & Rec\, The Falls Neighbors and the Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls. \n
