DESCRIPTION:The Club has taken 210 Football Crazr raffle tickets to sell for the SWIS District and our Club. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets or helping to sell the 210 tickets for the club please contact Larry Hebbring. Last year we sold 300 tickets and raised over $1\,600.00 for the club and people who bought our tickets were awarded over $1\,000.00. It is a fun way to watch the 18-week football season and an easy sell at $20.00 per ticket. Contact Larry at 414-899-5807 or larryh@starpromo.net \nMORE INFO \nThe $20.00 ticket follows the 17 weeks of the NFL football season and each ticket holder has a chance to win as much as $500.00 each week. In each week\, the ticket owner gets 4 teams\, chosen at random. If the teams’ point totals are the highest for the week or the lowest for the week\, the ticket owner receives a cash prize. Ticket buyers can go to www.swisdistrict.org/resources to check weekly winners. If they are a winner a check will be sent out to them promptly. To make sure a winner gets their check\, stubs need to be handed in\, completely filled out\, legible and in black ink. \nLast year we had over 30 winners totaling over $3500.00 for club sold tickets. It is a great way to follow the season and all you have to do is buy/sell a $20.00 ticket. The $20.00 and the ticket stub must come back to us (The Optimist Club). The stub must be filled out completely and legibly\, if not\, we won’t be able to send their check if they win. All winnings will be sent to the ticket holder without any need for the ticket holder to interact. \nAll prizes are listed on each ticket. This goes on for 17 weeks with $1\,000.00 given out each week and $17\,000.00 given out for the year. DESCRIPTION:Packer Raffle\nWinners were drawn at the 2022 Raffle Tailgate Party on Monday\, Sept. 12\, 2022 at Village Bowl . Included in this year’s In-House raffle was an autographed LeRoy Butler Packer jersey.  The famed defensive back was voted into the NFL Hall of Fame this year. \n\n			 \n			\n				\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n					\n				\n				\n			\n			\n\nCraig Linert of Wauwatosa was the Grand Prize winner of the 26th Annual Packer Raffle held September 12 at Village Bowl in the Falls.  He chose the Dallas game to attend\, a wise selection as Green Bay upset the Mike McCarthy-led Cowboys with Linert and seven others watching from club seats at Lambeau Field. \nSecond prize of $1\,000 went to Keith Songstad of the Falls who had won $250 in last year’s event.  Third place money of $600 was earned by Dirk Wildt\, husband of member Stevie Mistele-Wildt. \nLongtime member Linda Zylka took home $400 for fourth place and members Donna Bosch\, Vicki Boelter and Ross Sharkey each earned $250 prizes.  Other $250 winners with Optimist connections were Mary Wenzel\, mother of member Kim; Tricia Kohl\, wife of former president Rick Kohl; and Jess Koehler\, wife of Dustin. \nAdditional $250 winners were K. Brooks\, Jim Dieter and Rita Stelpflug of the Falls; Pat String and Betty Rogan of Germantown; Bob Wagner of Sussex; Tyler Baehr of Cedarburg and Mike Jasson of Waukesha.  Jason Hemke of Menomonee Falls won a free entry to next year’s contest. \nWith a net profit of $21\,223.07\, the club earned more than $20\,000 for the 11th consecutive year. But that figure was $925.21 less than projected and $326.64 less than last year due to rising expenses on several fronts. \nA word of thanks goes out to all club members who sold or bought tickets and to those helping out the night of the drawing.  They include Mary Schlumpf\, Meg Latus\, Marcia Hebbring\, Clara Scheckel\, Cathy and Jim Hazzard at the front door; John Yusko\, Carol Schulteis\, Jenny O’Keefe and Joy Fricke at the ticket-distribution table; in-house raffle tickets sellers\, Tim Newman\, Shannon Diedrich\, Larry Hebbring\, Dan Schwind\, Tom Ciskoski\, Greg Mattson\, Tex Reiter and Diane Matuszak.  Kudos too to Rog Roger’s State Farm Insurance and Terry Marcou of Schmidt & Bartelt for the printing of tickets and supplying the liquor basket; Town Bank for providings the food and beverage enroute for the winners; Matt Hakes and his Virtual Freight Company for covering the expense of the tailgate party in Green Bay for the winners; and Barry Landowski and Minute Man Press for printing the flyers;  A special thanks to Amy and Andrew Manion of Madison who donated the Packer Tickets that were raffled off in-house netting $1\,000. \nOnce again\, this event could not have happened without the Team captains – Dan Schwind\, Tim Newman\, Jerry Mislang\, Donna Bosch\, Terry Fitzsimmons\, Chad DeLuka\, Herb Gross\, Carl Trapp Sr. Del Kreuser\, Tom Ciskoski\, Larry Hebbring\, Marcia Hebbring\, Shannon Diedrich\, Debbie and Lenny Kimmel and Mary Schlumpf. \nFinally\, thanks to longtime member Bob Ehmke\, who started this event in 1997.  Over the 26 years of its existence\, it has raised nearly 1/2 million dollars ($500\,000) for the youth of our community! \nAfter 15 years\, I am turning over the reins for this event to Tom Ciskoski for next year.  Any suggestions for improving the contest can be directed to him or any of the captains listed above \n  \nThe particulars…. \n• First prize is a trip for eight people to Lambeau Field to see the Packers play in your choice of nine regular season games. Also included are a luxury limo ride to and from the game\, a tailgate party at Lambeau\, Packer wearing apparel\, food and beverage enroute to Green Bay and $1\,000 cash to be used however the winners want. We will provide the limo ride from anywhere in Wisconsin. \n• Tickets cost $100 each but remember it’s for eight people. So\, four couples could pay $25 each\, or eight buddies could chip in $12.50 apiece. However (per state auditor’s directive) only one person’s name can go on the ticket stub. \n• Second Prize is $1\,000\, third prize is $600\, fourth prize is $400. Thirteen more awards of $250 will be given and one person will win a free entry for 2022. \n• Sales are limited to no more than 350 tickets. Therefore with 18 prizes\, contestants have a better than 1 in 20 chance of more than doubling their money\, \n • Each ticket allows one person to come to the drawing and tailgate party held at Village Bowl. Over $2\,000 in door prizes will be given out to those in attendance that night. Others who have contributed to the purchase of a ticket can attend for $10. SUMMARY:Popcorn Wagon
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \nLarry is working on the teams and schedule for the summer of 2023. You will hear from your team captain soon. This is a great fundraiser for our club! \n  \n  \n  \n  \nA few reminders about working the wagon.  The hours are 6:00 – 9:00\, so workers need to arrive at about 5:45 so the first bag is ready at about 6:00.  As in the recent past we will also have kettle corn for sale each night as well.  Kettle corn is prepared by a 3rd party and ready for sale.  Other processes are the same as previous years.  For newer members\, the club is divided into 15 teams that each work a Sunday to Saturday week.  Each team has a captain who will have scheduled you to work.  They will be present at 5:45 to help you get started and take you through the opening and closing process.  Veteran poppers may just open on their own.  There are written instructions about what needs to be done and are located on the front cover of a 3-ring binder which usually is found on the back counter in plain sight.  If you don’t see it\, look on the shelf below.  This is very important since everyone is expected to close up on their own.  It is easy enough\, but the instructions insure you don’t miss critical functions like locking windows and the door and turning off the propane.  It is best that even seasoned workers review the checklist. \nThere is a tally sheet on the back counter.  So everyone knows\, it is not necessary to mark down your sales\, nor is it necessary to track tips separately.  Each morning the Kernel (Larry) visits the wagon\, counts the money and resets the box to $100\, the starting amount.  He writes in the total from the previous night.  If you wish to mark your sales\, that’s fine\, but only for your purposes.  Larry will often let you know what sales were\, but not always.  If you want to know\, email him. \nIf you are new to the club\, it would be a good idea to stop in at the wagon before you are scheduled to work and let the people working that night show you the ropes.  It isn’t complicated at all\, but like anything\, needs to be done correctly.   Like never forget to turn on the stirrer when restarting the popper\, or you will quickly have very burned popcorn. \nThere are nights when special events occur in the park\, like the concert last night.  It began at 5:00\, so hours had to be expanded to 4:00 – 9:00.  Your captain will advise you when such things occur.  Most concerts don’t begin before 6:00\, but they still require some adjustment to hours. \nIf you are unable to work the week you are assigned\, please let your captain know and you will get moved to another team.  We need all members involved.  We can work with your schedule. \nThe chairman of the popcorn wagon is Larry Podolske.  If you have questions\, want to work extra nights\, or didn’t see the list of all the teams sent by Dan Schwind last week\, contact him at either email podolske@yahoo.com or phone 262-255-6259.  Or see me at the wagon as I’m often there. \n2022 is off and running.  Lenny & Debbie Kimmel are the captains for the first week.  Stop up and say hello to whoever they having working.  It also is a great chance to see what is happening as far as the building of the new children’s play area to the west of the stage arena.  Things are really moving in the park. \n~ Larry Podolske \n  \nProceeds from popcorn wagon sales go towards the many programs support by the Club. SUMMARY:2023 Scholarship Golf Outing

SUMMARY:Coo Olympics
DESCRIPTION:On March 12\, 2023\, our Optimist Club presented the “Coo Olympics”\, a new fund raiser for our club\, to our Menomonee Falls downtown area.  A well-received event by our six local downtown establishments and the 90 players with an average age of 50+ that participated in playing 11 games\, raffles\, food\, and having just a whole lot of fun with the volunteers\, friends\, and families surrounding them. Special thanks go out to The Hot House\, Sal’s Pub and Grille\, Players Pub\, Wisconsin on Tap\, Krueger’s Bowl\, and the American Legion for providing space to do the games in their establishments and gift certificates for all of our winners.  A special thank you to the American Legion for providing a place for the awards’ presentations\, 50/50 raffle and an in-house raffle\, along with great food provided to all.  A special shout out to our head chef\, Mr. Greg Mattson.  A daunting adventure\, months in the making\, a few flaws here and there but truly a great outcome.  A huge thank you to 25+ volunteers of which a third of them weren’t even club members.  We couldn’t have done it without them.  So\, at the end of the day\, a WIN WIN for the Optimist Club and our kids along with a great partnership with the American Legion\, and our Vets.  The Coo Olympics netted $2\,200.00+ and with so many requests for a return engagement\, we definitely are considering coming back next year.  Hope to see more of you participate in some way.  Happy 50 Years\, Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls!!!!!!

SUMMARY:Chili Dinner
DESCRIPTION:We had a successful Chili Dinner at the MFHS cafeteria on January 28\, 2022. It was a great 2-day event: Thursday we cooked up all the chili and Friday we served it up! \nThis year’s event had some challenges.  We found out we no longer had the steam kettles at the high school to simmer the chili in for that slow cooked flavor.  Food prices have almost doubled\, and due to covid19 we had to have everything individually wrapped.  I think my team did an amazing job tackling each hurdle that came our way.  The take out “picnic” bag of sorts was well received.  Nicki and Tree\, our cafeteria workers did an awesome job keeping things moving along. \nTom Ciscoski\, Greg Matson\, Scott Dwyer and their crew did a great job frying up 120# of hamburger and getting everything into all the buckets.  Kathie Jensen\, Joanne Wanner\, Kathy Matthiessen and Linda Wagner worked tirelessly filling individual containers of cheese and onions \nThanks to Tom Wagner for buying all the food and keeping the line on track the night of the dinner.  A big thanks to Sue Carney and husband Stu Reichl for jumping in and doing whatever was needed to keep everything moving smoothly.  A huge thanks to everyone who volunteered both days.  With everyone helping we were able to raise $3800. \nIt is with a heavy sigh that I am looking for a replacement to chair the chili dinner.  I will be around for whatever support is needed.  I feel it’s time for some new blood to shake things up with some fresh ideas. \n  \nThanks for all your help over the past several years. \n  \n\n			 \n			\n				\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n					\n				\n				\n			\n			\n\n  \nChili Dinner Chair: Kirsten Sperl \nChili Dinner Committee: Sue Carney\, Kathy Matthiessen\, Rose Schwartz & Tom Wagner

DESCRIPTION:It’s November and our Gobble Wobble Meat Raffle is just around the corner.  A small fund raiser for our club\, but an important and fun one. \nThe American Legion is our host for this event on Saturday\, November 12th from 1:00 until 4.—a WIN-WIN for our veterans and our kids. \nPlease join us for the meat raffles\, wine giveaways\, a 50/50 raffle and our Beer/Wine Advent Calendar raffles.  If you’ve never been to a meat raffle\, come check it out! \nIf you can’t make it and want to be a part of it\, please consider purchasing the Beer/Wine Advent Calendar tickets at 2 for $5 at the American Legion\, Players Pub\, or from Dawn Mariscal\, Shannon Dederich\, Greg Mattson\, or myself.  These make great gifts: 24 different cans of beer or 24 different bottles of wine. \nIf you wish to participate in the 10 meat raffles\, at $3 each\, or a total of $30\, and can’t make the date\, contact Shannon Dederich\, Dawn Mariscal\, or myself and we’ll hook you up. \nLet’s bring in the holidays with a bang!  All proceeds will benefit our fantastic community of kids.  Thanks in advance. \n

SUMMARY:Packer Raffle Tailgate Party
DESCRIPTION:Each $100 raffle ticket allows one person to come to the drawing and Tailgate Party. Over $2\,000 in door prizes will be given out to those in attendance that night. Others who have contributed to the purchase of a ticket can attend for $10. Free food\, beer and soda make it a fun event. \nWinners were drawn at the 2022 Raffle Tailgate Party on Monday\, Sept. 12\, 2022 at Village Bowl . Included in this year’s In-House raffle was an autographed LeRoy Butler Packer jersey.  The famed defensive back was voted into the NFL Hall of Fame this year. \n\n			 \n			\n				\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n					\n				\n				\n			\n			\n\n  \n  \n\nIt Happened Again for Many at the 2021 Packer Raffle\nWild screams of joy pierced the air at the Village Bowl when Shannon Dederich and her group won the Grand Prize at the 25th Annual Optimist Packer Raffle held on Monday\, September 13\, 2021.  Shannon\, who had won $250 in 2013\, captured a trip to Lambeau Field to see the Green and Gold take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday\, Nov. 28\, a package valued at more than $5\,000. \nThere were numerous other repeat winners including newly named “Optimist of the Year”\, Larry Podolske\, whose $250 prize marked the 4th time he and/or his wife hit paydirt in the event.  Linda garnered $250 last year and in 2008.  And Larry won $600 five years ago. \nAnother repeat cash-in was registered by Village Bowl employee Jeff Sonnemann whose $250 award matched what he won in 2012. But those earnings were surpassed by the $500 he tallied in 2011 and the $1\,000 that he copped in 2019. \nFormer Optimist member Dave Meyer of Germantown also hit the trifecta adding a $400 win this year to the $250 in garnered last year and the $500 he picked up in 2008. \nAlso winning cash for the third time was Bruce LaPointe of Milwaukee who matched his $250 prize to that which he was awarded in 2017 and 2018. \nAnother club member getting in on the action again was another raffle captain Herb Gross who added $250 to the group win he was part of in 2011.  Herb’ son Adam of Germantown kept it in the family by taking home second prize of $1\,000. \nOther Optimist members sharing in the wealth were Fred Blanke ($600)\, Terra Chmielewski ($250) and Todd Paulus. \nTodd\, two-time club president\, was involved in probably the most bizarre chain of events which started off last year when he won the free entry to this year’s contest (ticket #350).  But not being content with just one entry (and probably wanting to support the club as a whole) he proceeded to buy ticket #163 which won him one of this year’s $250 cash prizes.  Then his ticket #350 was drawn to again give him a free entry into the 2022 contest!!! \nOther $250 winners this year included Carol Muenich and Keith Songstad both of Menomonee Falls\, Renee Hitt of Waukesha\, Carrie Bence of Hubertus and longtime Friend of Optimism Don Matovich\, owner of DJ”s Goalpost in the Falls. \nChad and Laure Demmon in Elm Grove bought a ticket from their neighbor JJ Selland\, former club president.  They also qualified for a $250 award\, but generously decided to give it back to the club for our continued efforts as “Friends of Youth.” \nBecause Shannon and her gang are not going to Green Bay till November 28 (Shannon’s birthday by the way)\, final figures for the raffle are not complete currently.  But while hopefully exceeding $20\,000 in profit\, this year’s event will not match last year’s earnings of $22\,900 nor will it come close to the record setting mark of $23\,869.23 reached in 2019.  Never-the-less\, once all the data is complete\, the club will be pushing the $300\,000.00 level in total take for the past 14 years of the raffle. \n  \nphotos by Jon Cline \n\n			 \n			\n				\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n						\n							\n					\n					\n				\n				\n			\n			\n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Softball Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Well\, the 4th annual Optimist Club/Sal’s Pub and Grill Softball Tournament is in the books. Cory Kleeba\, Larry Hebbring\, and myself would like to thank all who were a part of this adventure. I’d like to recognize a few groups that helped make our 3 day event successful. First of all\, to all of our Optimist friends that gave of their time this weekend to work the concessions. Second\, to Sal’s Pub Softball team…. Not a nicer and harder working group of guys around. They kept the games going and the field in shape. Next\, Greg Mattson and 1st Bank Financial who sponsored our grilled chicken dinners on Sunday\, Awesome!! Jeff Steliga and Falls Fest for donating the ice to keep our cold ones chilled. A shout out to Aaron Kleeba and the Village of Menomonee Falls for getting the softball field back in shape on Sunday after the rains. Most of all\, I’d like to thank all who stopped by\, had fun\, and in turn\, made this event stand out as we work to BRING OUT THE BEST IN KIDS. We’ll be back!!
