Another successful Essay Contest is in the books. We had 5 students compete in the Essay Contest this year, up from 3 last year, so we are excited about that.

The results for Essay Contest are as follows:

1st Place: Jack Froelich (pictured right)

2nd Place: Ewa Klos (pictured left)

3rd Place: Anirudh Warrior (not pictured)

 

Honorable mentions go to Nathan Mystrow (not pictured) and Anika Lechner (pictured center). As our 1st Place winner Jack Froelich will be moving on the District Essay Contest the winner of which will be announced at the 3rd Quarter Conference on May 5-6 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. We are inviting all our Essay winners to attend our Club meeting on April 5 to receive their Medallions, certificates and for our 1st through 3rd Place winners their Prize money. They will also share their Essays.

 

 

The Essay topic for the 2022-23 school year was  “Who is an Everyday Hero that Brings out the Optimism in You?”

The Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal  experience, the experience of their country or a more historical perspective. In addition to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship!

Essays will be judged by a local panel and a winner will be announced early February 2023. Winning essay will then be submitted to the District contest to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship. The District-level scholarships are funded by the Optimist International Foundations.

Who: Contest is open to any student attending school in Menomonee Falls and under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2022 who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent. (no minimum age applies).

How To Enter: Prepare an essay 700-800 words (Title, footnotes and bibliography are not included in the final word count.) Hyphenated words count as 1 word.

When: Submit essay along with contest application no later than February 1st, 2023 by email to Mike Russell.

 

 

The Essay topic for the 2021-22 school year was  “HOW DOES AN OPTIMISTIC MINDSET CHANGE MY TOMORROW?” First, I would like to thank our Judges Dr. Carolyn AndersonKristen Kubisiak and Cathy Jakicic for volunteering to judge the essays – without you this contest would not have been possible. Finally, the results of the contest are as follows:

1st Place: Anirudh Warrier

2nd Place: Gabriel Xiong

3rd Place: Kaleb Trice.

Congratulations to all of our contestants for their insightful essays.  A special congratulations to our 1st Place winner Anirudh Warrier! His essay will be forwarded on to our District Essay Contest for a chance at a $2,500 Scholarship. Best of luck to Anirudh!
